Editorial policy
Where our facts come from, what we leave out, and how stories are labelled and updated.
Sources
Facts must come from a source whose terms allow us to use them. In practice that means:
- Wikipedia (CC BY-SA, cited and linked) and Wikidata (CC0).
- Press releases and press rooms from leagues and broadcasters, where their terms allow quoting. We record the quote and the link for each one.
- Official league and team accounts on Bluesky, as a signal or a fact in our own words.
- Public press conferences, with short quotes attributed to the speaker.
We do not copy text from publishers that bar use by AI tools or automated reading, and we do not record or transcribe TV or streaming broadcasts. Every story and every hub page lists its sources at the bottom.
Our own words
We write in our own words and link to where each fact came from. Game facts such as a score or a date are facts; the way we explain them is ours.
What we leave out
- No betting odds, lines, picks or promotions.
- No team, league or broadcaster logos. Photos come only from Wikimedia Commons under Creative Commons or public domain licences, and each one is credited.
- No page per game and no mass-produced templated pages.
Labels
- Updated: every story shows when it was last changed. We change that time only when the text changes.
- Projected: a date or detail that has not been announced by the league or broadcaster. We show our estimate from a stated pattern, and it can change.
How stories are made
Stories may be drafted with software assistance. Before a story goes up, the facts in it are checked against the linked sources. Prices and dates carry the day they were checked, because they change.
